Why the Land Reclamation Fund Exists

Across North Carolina and the nation, Black and underserved communities have been stripped of land, forced out by redlining, heirs’ property laws, and gentrification. The VZN Land Reclamation Fund is our answer to decades of displacement — giving us the power to reclaim, restore, and legally own what was taken.

Key Fact: In counties like Martin and Bertie, over 7.9% of all land parcels are tied up in heirs' property disputes — preventing development and wealth transfer. (Learn more)

What Land Do We Target?

We look for undervalued, overlooked, or community-rich land opportunities that meet one or more of the following:

  • ✔ Historical relevance or legacy ownership
  • ✔ Abandoned or tax lien property eligible for quiet title
  • ✔ Agricultural potential for farming and campus development
  • ✔ Affordable acreage within 120 miles of Wilson, NC
  • ✔ Land that can house education, housing, or spiritual centers
